Over 20 inventories of fauna and flora are conducted every year by a specialised agency in order to check the biological enrichment of the site which is developing in both space and time. The DEMNA (Département de l'Etude du Milieu Naturel et Agricole - Department for the Study of the Natural and Agricultural Environment) and the DNF (Département de la Nature et des Forêts - Department of Nature and Forests) are involved in the monitoring within the framework of a Scientific Committee which meets annually, validates the results and the management of the slag heap and then suggests improvements.
